SET# 5: MISCELLANEOUS

CARD# HPJ-2014-27: Thank You

I thought of making a set of cards out of the papers of the Carta Bella Sew Lovely paper pad, but I veered into other paper collections. I decided then to create cards from various paper pads. This here is a combination of three paper lines. I wanted another design on that strip, but I couldn't find what I was looking for in my stash. I just made use of the olive green paper from the Prima Marketing Collection.

I have layered dies from three different Spellbinders sets and used one of the 'Thank You' sentiments in the Bo Bunny Clear Stamp You're Invited set. I also pierced little holes along the edges of the main paper and accent paper.

I added a bit of lace trimming and some pearls at the bottom to even out the space. That was that. This card is rather neat.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS USED: White and black board paper, Graphic 45 Secret Garden Collection, lace trimming, self-adhesive pearls, Bo Bunny Clear Stamp You're Invited, Ranger Archival Ink Jet Black, piercing tool, Spellbinders Nestabilities Lacey Ovals, Spellbinders Shapeabilities Card Creator A2 Tranquil Moments, Spellbinders Shapeabilties D-Lites Frame One, Cuttlebug Machine V2

CARD# HPJ-2014-2: A Gift For You

I used a page from the Cart Bella Sew Lovely pad for this card. The orange embellishments are quite refreshing. They go well with the more subtle pale blue patterned paper if I may say so.

I drew swirls on the patterned paper and adhered crystals one by one. I wrote the sentiment with a regular black ballpen and instead of inking the inner part of the die cut tag, I inked the edges.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS USED: Ivory board paper, Carta Bella Sew Lovely paper pad, self-adhesive crystals, twill ribbon, paper roses, wooden flower, ColorBox Cat's Eye Queue Pigment Ink Sweet Melon, black pen, Spellbinders Shapeabilities Fancy Framed Tags One, Cuttlebug Machine V2

SET# 4: FORGET-ME-NOT

Here is another set of cards I made recently. I mainly used papers from the Kaisercraft Forget-Me-Not Collection. All the cards measure approximately 4.5" x 5.75".

CARD# HPJ-2014-21: Cherish 1

I have a stash of butterflies like the one above (in different colors). I tend to horde supplies you see. This is actually the first time that I used one of them.

Originally, there were more layers of die cuts, but I found them unappealing. I discarded the other layers and stuck with these two. I simply added a sentiment from the sticker sheet of the collection.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS USED: Ivory board paper, Kaisercraft Forget-Me-Not Collection, self-adhesive lace, self-adhesive pearls, butterfly, Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Thirty-Five and Splendid Circles, Cuttlebug Machine V2

CARD# HPJ-2014-22: Happy Bee Day

The only yellow in the bunch. I'm glad it turned out pretty. The feel though is different compared to the other five in the set.

I have once again layered die cuts from different Spellbinders die sets. I took one bee from the sticker sheet and made it the main embellishment. And of course it wouldn't be a card I made without the blings--white pearls and crystals.

I remember hearing Beate Johns, a very creative person I came upon while exploring other techniques and styles in  papercrafting, mention in one of her video tutorials that she loves putting blings in her creations. Indeed most of her little works of art that I have seen have them. And they are all so pretty.

I didn't realize that I have become entranced with these little faux gemstones and have incorporated them in most of my recent works. When a card does not feel complete, I add some pearls and/or crystals and they emanate a feel of completeness. They truly have become staples in my cardmaking.

Let's see here. I have finally acquired a white pen (though it is a bit thicker than what I wanted). It writes well and the white does not fade unlike the white milk pen that I used before. It is a bit expensive for a pen, but I think it is worth it. There is always a need for a good white pen in crafting. So I used the new pen to write parts of the sentiment. I got the 'BEE' from the sticker sheet. I added foam tapes at the back for dimension.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS USED: Ivory board paper, Kaisercraft Forget-Me-Not Collection, lace trimming, self-adhesive pearls, crystals, ColorBox Cat's Eye Queue Pigment Ink Ochre, Uni-ball Signo Broad White, Spellbinders Nestabilities Fleur-de-Lis Square, Captivating Square and Labels Thirty-Five, Cuttlebug Machine V2

CARD# HPJ-2014-23: Moments

I think this is the simplest card in the set. There were no other embellishments aside from the crystals, the sentiment and the bee. I just added dimension so as not to make the card flat.

I cut out a couple of flowers from the patterned paper and adhered them with foam tape. I added stickers from the collection as well.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS USED: Ivory board paper, Kaisercraft Forget-Me-Not Collection, self-adhesive crystals, ColorBox Cat's Eye Queue Pigment Ink Colonial Blue

CARD# HPJ-2014-24: Birthday Wishes

I wanted to use the blue patterned paper in the collection as the main paper in the card. So I cut out the right size and adhered it onto the card base. What came next was rather baffling. I simply didn't know how to proceed. I did't want to use similar layered dies like in the other cards, yet I thought of using one or two. I had to think and figure out what to do with this card. After a considerable amount of brainstorming I came up with this.

It is pretty simple actually. When I put down the paper doily and the sentiment, the rest followed.

I wrote the sentiment by hand using a permanent pen so as not to have it smudged when I inked the inside of the circle. I placed an assortment of paper flowers and gessoed them afterwards. I kinda like the feel of the embellishments or the paper with gesso. No doubt I would be employing this technique to my future projects.

As for the lower part of the card, I just attached a ribbon and adhered a part of a border sticker from the collection. And oh, I punched the bottom of the patterned paper for added effect.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS USED: Ivory board paper, green textured paper,  Kaisercraft Forget-Me-Not Collection, paper doily, paper flowers, ribbon, pearls, gesso, ColorBox Cat's Eye Queue Pigment Ink Colonial Blue and Olive, Faber-Castell Multimark Permanent Pen, Martha Stewart Border Edge Punch Arch Lattice, Spellbinders Nestabilities Splendid Circles, Cuttlebug Machine V2

CARD# HPJ-2014-25: Wish

The first card in the set that I made. (You should have figured it out already that I number my cards randomly. Heh.) All in all I can say it is pretty neat. There's not much going on. Just layers of patterned paper and a couple of stickers.

The stickers I mentioned above included the main image. I love dimension so much so I used foam tape to elevate the sticker a bit. I really don't like making flat cards. I prefer 3D ones complete with metal charms, blings, buttons and what not. If you have seen my previous creations you would have noticed that the main embellishments are mainly metal stuff. I have been enjoying using other materials for the main embellishments lately, but you will surely find the familiar embellishments soon.

CARD# HPJ-2014-26: Cherish 2

We have reached the last one in the batch. The color palette is similar to that of the third card. And like the first card, I also had to remove a layer of die cut before settling with the current design. I quite like the outcome.

The base was already done before I decided on what to do with the focal point. After removing that extra layer, I added the flower and the sentiment.

At first I intended to fill the space at the lower part of the card with a sentiment, but since my earlier plan with the focal point did not materialize, I had to come up with another idea. I already used the sentiment as part pf the focal point and I did not want another crystal or pearl on the card. the paper flowers were part of the original plan. Let's not put it to waste. I gathered the florettes and adhered them with sturdy glue dots on that empty space.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS USED: Ivory board paper, Kaisercraft Forget-Me-Not Collection, self-adhesive lace, paper roses, self-adhesive crystals, ColorBox Cat's Eye Queue Pigment Ink Colonial Blue, sand paper, needle and thread, Spellbinders Nestabilities Fleur-de-Lis Square and Captivating Square, Spellbinders Shapeabilities Card Creator A2 Tranquil Moments, Cuttlebug Machine V2

There you have it. Another set of coordinating cards. I am still working on a couple of other sets. I hope to finish some soon. I will post photos as soon as I am able. Thanks for stopping by. Have a marvelous day!

SET# 3: PRETTY SQUARES

CARD# HPJ-2014-17: Little Sunshine

I have always wanted to make a yellow card, but each time I end up with another color. This time I was finally able to play around different shades of yellow. I was inspired by the layout of a Magnolia card that was entered in a Tilda's Town Challenge.

I opted not to decorate the inside of the card. I wanted it to be simple since the front has already been embellished a bit. I just adhered a piece of vanilla patterned paper and that was that.

I love the details of this card. I layered two different sizes of butterfly die cuts and coated them with crackle paint. This is the first time that I have utilized this technique.
If you have noticed there is a touch of white on the surfaces of the flowers as well as in some nooks and crannies of the card. I actually dry brushed a little bit if gesso on them. The effect is rather lovely. I have been dabbling into mixed media canvas lately and I learned about gesso and the like. The materials and techniques I came upon are very useful in my cardmaking.

Here is another one of my rolled paper roses. They really look pretty when used with other paper flowers and embellishments.

White, ivory, yellow, orange, gold--these are the colors included in the card's color palette. The ivory and white elements were accentuated by the use of chestnut ink pad.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS USED: Ivory board paper, My Mind's Eye Lost and Found Two Sunshine, Graphic 45 Typography Collection Journey, Sassafras Lass Vanilla, paper doily, die cuts, lace trimming, paper roses, stamen, self-adhesive crystals, brad, baker's twine, Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint Rock Candy, ColorBox Cat's Eye Queue Pigment Ink Chestnut, gesso, brush, Spellbinders Nestabilities Captivating Square, Martha Stewart Border Edge Punch Arch Lattice, 'Lil Sew & Sew By Tivax, Cuttlebug Machine V2

CARD# HPJ-2014-18: It's Your Day

I have mentioned in my earlier posts how I love the Graphic 45 paper collections. This card used the papers from the French Country collection.

The inside of the card has been decorated simply with a bit of patterned paper from the collection and a tag which I made by using a Spellbinders die and my Cuttlebug. I inked the edges with a gold ink pad from Tsukineko. Then wrote the sentiment.

I know that my growing addiction to dies is pretty obvious. Ha. I am having so much fun with them. How I wish I have more sets.

I used the new Card Creator set from Spellbinders for the background. Isn't it wonderful?

I wrote the sentiment by hand again and inked the edges of the tag.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS USED: Black board paper, Graphic 45 French Country Collection, Graphic 45 Typography Collection, self-adhesive crystals, button, burlap twine, Tsukineko Dew Drop Brilliance Moonlight White and Galaxy Gold, white pen, Spellbinders Shapeabilities Card Creator A2 Tranquil Moments and D-Lites Frame One, Cuttlebug Machine V2

SET#2: SIMPLY PINK AND WHITE

As the title indicates, this set of cards includes pink and white elements. It was inspired by two packs of pretty die cuts. The cards measure approximately 4.5" x 5.75". The inside of the cards have been left blank for personal message.

CARD# HPJ-2014-13: Adore
This is another simple card employing layering of die cuts. This could be give as a birthday card, a just because card. It can be anything really.

I added a couple of crystals to the Spellbinders die cut to enhance the overall image of the card.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS USED: White and ivory board paper, die cut, Kaisercraft Pickled Pear Collection Sticker Sheet, self-adhesive crystals, Spellbinders Shapeabilities Card Creator A2 Valiant Honor, Cuttlebug Machine V2

CARD# HPJ-2014-14: Live Love Be Happy
I like this card the most in this set. The pretty flower die cut is accented by the black stickers and the crystals add a certain elegance to the card.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS USED: White board paper, die cut,Kaisercraft Pickled Pear Collection Sticker Sheet, self-adhesive crystals

CARD# HPJ-2014-15: Remember
I think this was the first one in the set that I made. It is still influenced by the set of vintage masculine cards that I did previously. Just look at the patterned paper I used and the die!

CARD# HPJ-2014-16: Solitary
Hmn. Let's see. This card is a bit on the minimalist side. I just used two die cuts--one for the background and another for the focal point.

SET# 1: VINTAGE MASCULINE CARDS

Hi there! How have you been? Tonight I am posting a couple of cards that I made in the past few days. I divided them into sets. The first one is composed of vintage masculine cards.

Gah. I have been hankering on acquiring Graphic 45 papers ever since I learned of their existence a long while ago. I had the Secret Garden 8 x 8 paper pad, but I actually have not used it much. What I wanted were the other paper pads (the paper collections, really, but they are quite expensive). I remember getting disappointed a few months ago when I learned that one of the stores where I buy stuff that carries Graphic 45 products does not have the Olde Curiosity Shoppe paper pad available. The designs on that particular collection are lovely and I could just imagine what projects I could make using the papers. Well, that was that. I purchased three others recently along with a couple of loose 12 x 12 papers. They were on sale so I bought what I could. Heh.

Among these 12 x 12 papers are from the A Proper Gentleman Collection which I intended to use for my masculine cards. I made six of them. How unfortunate that I only had six kraft card bases left. I wanted to use kraft paper on some of the feminine cards, but I have to settle on a special fold technique on that score since the kraft paper I have left have been pre-cut for triangle tri fold. Alright. Let's take a look at them.

All the cards measure approximately 4.5" x 5.75". The inside of the cards have been left blank for your personal message.

CARD# HPJ-2014-05: Celebrate

Celebrate is the word that appears on the front of this card. This would make a thoughtful birthday card or a congratulatory card.

I used two different dies from Spellbinders and a tag from the collection and layered them using foam tapes to add dimension. I tied a length of burlap twine beneath the layered die cuts and adhered a button at the knot. To make it whole, I placed black self-adhesive crystals on both upper sides of the card.

I wrote the sentiment on a piece of card stock I cut using my Cuttlebug with a white gel pen and inked the edges with a Tsukineko Dew Drop Brilliance ink pad.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS USED: Kraft paper, black board paper, Graphic 45 A Proper Gentleman Collection A Proper Gentleman and Haberdasher, Graphic 45 A Proper Gentleman Tags, burlap twine, self-adhesive crystals, white gel pen, Tsukineko Dew Drop Brilliance Moonlight White, Spellbinders Shapeabilities Card Creator A2 Tranquil Moments and D-Lites Frame One, Cuttlebug Machine V2

CARD# HPJ-2014-06: A Gentleman

The main patterned paper used on the card is from the Graphic 45 Typography Collection (Inscribe).

This would make a nice birthday card or just because card for a friend or a loved one.

A tag from the Graphic 45 A Proper Gentleman tags sheet was made into the main image of the card. I adhered it on a piece of black board paper cut with the Cuttlebug and the second biggest die in the Spellbinders A2 Valiant Honor set and added some crystals.

Before adhering the main embellishment (which is the gentleman tag on a die cut), I placed a band of black board paper punched at the edges with a Martha Stewart Border punch called Arch Lattice and layered a length of black silk ribbon in the middle. I also attached a couple of self-adhesive pearls on the ribbon and two metal charms on the lower right part of the card.

CARD# HPJ-2014-07: Custom Shirt

Once again I employed layering on this card. A simple tag and a couple of die cuts go a long way.

I mixed and matched dies from two different Spellbinders dies sets and came up with this. I placed two black buttons at the bottom for added effect.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS USED: Kraft paper, black board paper, Graphic 45 A Proper Gentleman Collection Haberdasher, Graphic 45 A Proper Gentleman Tags, buttons, Spellbinders Nestabilities Splendid Circle, Spellbinders Shapeabilities Card Creator A2 Tranquil Moments, Cuttlebug Machine V2

CARD# HPJ-2014-08: Happy Birthday

I just love layering! You can see how many layers I made on this card. Heh.

I cut out two different sizes of the Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Thirty-Five using my beloved Cuttlebug. Dies are awesome! I wish I had more. I can't afford them at the moment. *Weep.*
I utilized one of the tags from the collection and adhered two layers of foam tape at the back for dimension. The black crystals on the sides are just perfect.

Again I wrote the sentiment on a solid color die cut using a white pen.

CARD# HPJ-2014-09: Wardrobe Essentials

This card is pretty neat. I cut a portion of one of the papers and used it as the main image. I thought at first of layering the biggest Valiant Honor die with the image, but it was a bit smaller so I just went for the plain rectangular base.

Die cuts really make a card extra special. Together with one of the tags from the collection, it came out to be a nice enhancement to the whole of the card.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS USED: Kraft paper, black board paper. Grpahic 45 Le' Romantique Collection Well Groomed, Graphic 45 A Proper Gentleman Collection, Graphic 45 A Proper Gentleman Tags, self-adhesive crystals, Spellbinders Shapeabilities Card Creator Tranquil Moments, Cuttlebug Machine V2

CARD# HPJ-2014-10: Old Bond Street

Alright. Here is the last one in the set-- the only one which did not have a single Spellbinders die cut.

Those circular paper stuff on the upper left part of the card came with the tag sheet. I painted three gold brads with nail polish and adhered them on the die cuts. I love it that even though I only have a pack of gold brads, I can still get whatever color I want. I just use my nail polish (I have a box) to paint them to match the project I am working on. How cool is that.

To add more flair to the card, I glued a metal charm on one side.

MATERIALS AND TOOLS USED: Kraft paper, black board paper, Graphic 45 Le' Romantique Collection Sweetheart of Mine, Graphic 45 A Proper Gentleman Tags, brads, metal charm, Caronia Nail Polish Copper Rock Frosted

Thank you so much for stopping by! I hope you liked my new creations. I would appreciate it if you leave a comment. Have a wonderful day!
